Concrete Patios in Charlotte, NC

A poured concrete patio outlasts pavers and decking with a fraction of the upkeep — no shifting, no weeds in the joints, no re-staining every other summer. We design patios around how you'll actually use the space: grill zones, fire pits, covered areas and steps, poured as one clean, permanent surface.

Curved stamped concrete patio with dark border behind a Charlotte home by Rhino Concrete

How we build it

Step 1

Design & layout

We walk the yard with you, mark the footprint, talk through size, shape, drainage and finish options, and quote it in writing.

Step 2

Excavation & base

Sod and soil out, stone base in, compacted and graded so water runs away from your foundation.

Step 3

Pour & finish

Concrete poured, screeded flat and finished your way — broom, smooth trowel, or a full stamped pattern with color.

Step 4

Cure & reveal

Joints cut, edges detailed, site cleaned. Furniture goes on in a few days; the patio stays for decades.

Concrete Patios: cost in Charlotte

Most patios we build around Charlotte fall between $4,000 and $10,000 — a simple broom-finish patio sits at the lower end, while larger stamped patios with steps or borders reach the upper end. Quotes are free, written and itemized; our minimum project is $2,000.

What moves the priceWhy it matters
Square footagePatio size drives concrete volume and finishing time.
Finish levelBroom finish is most affordable; stamped patterns and integral color add craft and cost.
Steps & seat wallsAdded elements like steps, borders or seat walls increase forming work.
Yard accessIf trucks and buggies can't reach the backyard easily, concrete has to be moved by hand or pump.
Drainage & gradingSloped or wet yards need extra grading so the patio sheds water correctly.

Concrete Patios — common questions

Concrete patio vs pavers — which is better?

Concrete wins on lifetime cost and maintenance: one monolithic slab with no joints to weed, no settling bricks to re-level. Pavers win on repairability of single units. For most Charlotte backyards we recommend poured concrete, stamped if you want pattern.

How big should a patio be?

A dining set needs roughly 12×12 feet; add a grill or seating zone and 16×20 feet is comfortable. We lay out the footprint with you on site so the size fits the furniture you actually own.

Can you match a patio to my existing concrete?

We can tie new pours into existing slabs with dowels and match the finish closely. Exact color matching of aged concrete isn't possible, but finishes and joint lines can be aligned so the addition looks intentional.

When can I put furniture on a new patio?

Light foot traffic after 24–48 hours, furniture after about a week. We'll give you exact timing at the walkthrough based on the weather during your cure.
